“Watership Down” Matching Production Cel and Background (1978) - ID: jun26010

A production cel and background setup from the Nepenthe Studios animated cult classic "Watership Down" (1978). Featuring Hazel, Bigwig, Blackberry, Fiver, Dandelion, and Pipkin, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. The piece is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the film. The cels and background all appear around 38:40 when Bigwig hears what he mistakenly believes is the Black Rabbit of Inle. All of the cel layers match the background for this scene, but they are slightly different frames of animation from each other. Measuring 10.75”x13” overall, with the character image area measuring 7.5”x11”, the setup is in very good condition with light edge wear overall, minor corner wear on the background, and adhesive tape along backside of top edge of the background.
